About

Meet the Owner & Chief Creator!

My name is Stacy Dervin, and I am the owner of Eco Kids Village. Burnt out after 13 years working in Finance, I left my job as an Investment Director in 2017 to start a preschool in my home.

Partnered with a Montessori Preschool Teacher, I became the School Director for Eco Kids Village. Within just months, we fully enrolled our program and had several teachers on staff. We had a robust community of families, teachers and students in South Eugene. It was (and still is!) a really beautiful group of people. We graduated three full classes of preschoolers before we had to close down permanently after COVID-19 hit.

In late March 2020, I wanted so badly to help parents at home who were overwhelmed with full-time work and watching their children at home. I ended up creating the first Eco Kids Village activity kit- the Rainbow Busy Bag. This kit was full of no-instructions-needed play activities for young children. These were a lot of the same activities we pulled out in the classroom for our preschoolers when we just needed to keep little hands busy.

Later I developed our Calm-Down kit, which was modeled after the same kit we used in our classroom. Similar to the first kit, we relied on materials that were already successful in helping children deal with their big emotions. Many of the items were famous to preschool teachers, but not that many parents have heard of them (like water beads!)
Today, our collection of kits includes several nature themed activity kits that are inspired and informed by the curriculum we developed for our preschool over three years.
My personal passion is to use my creativity on a daily basis to bring positive experiences to others. I also love to create connections with other organizations, (like the Cascades Raptor Center with our Birds of Prey Kit!)
Thanks for being here,
Stacy
